Samsung still launching new Galaxy Tabs in NZ

Despite agreeing not to sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia pending a lawsuit from Apple, Samsung will still go ahead with the launch of the tablet in New Zealand, the company confirmed this morning.

Despite agreeing not to sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia pending a lawsuit from Apple, Samsung will still go ahead with the launch of the tablet in New Zealand, the company confirmed this morning.

"This injunction application only relates to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the Australian market," Samsung New Zealand said in a statement.

"The undertaking given in Australia does not affect any Samsung tablet or smartphone available in New Zealand."

The company said it planned to launch the product in the near future, and Vodafone representatives said on Tuesday that both the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be available within the next six weeks.

The lawsuit against Samsung is based on several patents that Apple currently holds, including aesthetic design elements, multi-touch screens, and gestures.
