Samsung launches Galaxy S III Mini in NZ

Samsung's Galaxy S III Mini is now available through Telecom, Vodafone and 2degrees.

Samsung's Galaxy S III Mini is now available through Telecom, Vodafone and 2degrees.

The Mini, which looks like a smaller version of Samsung's flagship Galaxy S III smartphone, has a 4-inch AMOLED display with a 480 by 800 pixel resolution.

The Mini has a dual-core, 1GHz processor with 1GB RAM. The model New Zealanders will get has 8GB on-board storage space, with storage expandable via microSD up to 32GB.

The phone, which runs Android 4.1, has a 5MP camera that can record at 720p.

While the Mini doesn't have much in common with the S III in terms of specifications, it does feature much of the same software, such as Samsung's S Beam and S Voice applications.

The head of telecommunications at Samsung New Zealand, Stefan Lecci, said the Galaxy S III Mini offered the same "core benefits" of the flagship Galaxy S III, but in a smaller size and lower price.

He said the Galaxy S III had proven "hugely popular" amongst Kiwis.

The Mini has an RRP of $599 and comes in blue or white.
