Huawei's flagship tech trickles down to mid-tier with new Nova 2i smartphone

Chinese smartphone brand Huawei have launched a new bid for the mid-tier smartphone market, announcing Australian availability and pricing for the Huawei Nova 2i.

“We know what is essential to today’s consumers, and we created a new device that packs powerful features to keep up,” says Eric Zhai, Managing Director of Huawei Consumer Business Group Australia.

“Designed to help you engage with everyone, wherever they are in the world, the Huawei nova 2i sets a new standard in innovation with its incredible performance, stylish design and advanced camera features.”

Like the flagship Huawei P10, 5.9-inch smartphone Nova 2i packs dual-lens cameras onto both the front (13MP/2MP) and back (16MP/2MP) of the device.

Running on Android 7 Nougat (plus Huawei's own EMUI skin), it comes powered by an 8-core Kirin 659 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board storage. The Nova 2i will also feature a 3,340mAh battery, fingerprint sensor and boast Huawei's brand-new 18:9 FullView Display, making it their first device with the expanded aspect ratio.

The Huawei nova 2i will be available in JB Hifi, Harvey Norman and participating retailers from October 25th, 2017 (SRP $499) and in Vodafone from November.
