Summary:A fully customisable, awesome-looking gaming mouse that won't let you down.

A4tech’s latest gaming mouse looks aggressive enough to best even the toughest man in a fight. There’s more to this mouse than rockstar appearances, though – it comes with a host of cool features to assist your gameplay, including quick sensitivity adjustment via a button just above the scroll wheel, adjustable weight using seven 2.8g plugs that can add up to a maximum 19.5 grams, and seven different buttons you can assign to just about anything.

The X7 Oscar has adjustable DPI – dots-per-inch, essentially a measure of sensitivity – from 600 to 3,600, which is huge for a gaming mouse. You can go ultra-sensitive for quick turns, or slow it right down to shoot your enemies straight in the face from a distance. If you fancy yourself a bit of a sniper, A4tech claims you can also lift the mouse off your desk and the cursor will stay in place, although I found that even on the lowest DPI the mouse would move slightly every time I picked it up, so I’m not sure how useful that feature is.

If you want to slow the Oscar down even further, you can adjust the weight of the mouse to give it more drag. Open it up and insert little weights into a pistol-style chamber inside the mouse. The chamber is located at the back end, making it significantly heavier than the front. I found that when the chamber was full, I couldn’t pick it up steadily and keep the cursor in place.

Despite the minor issues, the Oscar is a solid gaming mouse. The extra programmable buttons certainly help, and being able to adjust the sensitivity easily and rapidly is very handy. This mouse will have your back in the heat of battle.
