Sony Ericsson announces Xperia acro, new Xperia minis

Sony Ericsson announced yet another smartphone for its Xperia range on Saturday, this one designed specifically for users in Japan.

The acro is very similar in appearance and spec to the soon-to-be-launched Xperia Arc, but it includes data sharing via infrared sensors, mobile TV functionality, and smartphone payment.

The company also announced the next generation of its Xperia mini range, the Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro. The mini is "the world’s smallest HD video recording smartphone", Sony Ericsson said in a statement, and the mini pro has a slide-out keyboard on a compact smartphone.

There is no word on when these new smartphones will make it to New Zealand shores, but given the acro is made specifically for Japan, we may not see the device at all.
