Wellington-based company Computer Dust Units sent us an intriguing device this issue: a dust filter. Now these aren’t typically the most interesting of computer add-ons, and we seriously doubt whether the bling-brigade will be rushing to install them in their souped up neon-lit cases – but they probably should. The patented 3D design is attached to an 80mm fan. It hardly stifles airflow yet manages to scoop up masses of dust and installs in the time it takes to tighten four screws. We envisage them to be winners in an office or workshop situation where PCs are often left to stagnate. With one of these under the hood keeping the dust at bay, the lifespan of a system could potentially be significantly lengthened.
