Taiwanese PC case manufacturer iCute has a long history of making cases which are affordable and practical with an edgy design. The K01-5G-BB, also known as the “King 01”, is no exception with its glossy black finish, sharp angular lines, multiple configuration options and bargain basement price.

The first thing you’re likely to notice about the King 01 is the gigantic 220mm fan mounted on the side panel, something which has become ubiquitous on iCute cases. These high airflow fans are popular due to their superior cooling performance coupled with low noise from the low-speed blades.

Opening the case you can see that there are a lot of other fan mounting options, with spaces for 120mm or 140mm fans on the front, bottom, top and rear of the case.

There is also plenty of space for device installation with nine 5.25in bays, three of which come with anti-vibration 3.5in hard drive mounts.

The 0.6mm cold-rolled steel construction doesn’t convey much confidence in the quality of the box, but it seems sturdy enough,

there are no nasty sharp-cut edges and all the pieces seem to click together in a nice, well-designed way.
My ATX motherboard slotted in without hassle, and the King 01 was even able to accommodate the biggest video card on the market – the dual-GPU behemoth that is the ATI HD 5970. There are a number of other nice touches like the screw-less optical drive clamps and pre-drilled water cooling hose inlet and outlets.
Overall, a fantastic PC case if you’re on a budget but still looking for something cool.
