Adobe confirms Creative Suite 6 (CS6) will ship in first half of 2012
Adobe recants statement saying only CS5 and CS5.5 owners will get discounted upgrades, opening it to CS3 and CS4 owners too.
Neil Bennett | Friday, January 13 2012Adobe has confirmed that Creative Suite 6 will ship in the first half of 2012 in a posting about an upgrade offer. This isn't surprising - when Adobe released Creative Suite 5.5 in May last year, it announced it was moving from an 18-month .0 upgrade cycle to releasing .5 upgrades every year or so.
Creative Suite 6 will likely include Photoshop CS6, Illustrator CS6, InDesign CS6, After Effects CS6, Premiere Pro CS6, Flash Pro CS6, Dreamweaver CS6 and more. It will also include Creative Cloud, Adobe's online project sharing service, which has still yet to launch in the UK and may include its Touch apps for tablets including Photoshop Touch, Collage, Debut, Ideas, Kuler and Pronto. These are available for Android tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but have yet to appear on Apple's iPad.
Adobe has given a few sneak peaks at tools that we expect to see in CS6, including a lens correction tool and a showstopping image deblurring tool for Photoshop CS6, 'liquid layouts' for InDesign CS6, video meshes for Premiere Pro CS6 and the Monocle for Flash Pro CS6.
The confirmation was contained in an FAQ stating that an intention to offer a discounted upgrade offer to owners of CS3 and CS4 between the launch of CS6 and December 31 2012. This reverses Adobe's position of November, when it stated that only current owners of CS5 or CS5.5 would get a discount.
