TVNZ Ondemand content coming to PlayStation 3
Sony Computer Entertainment confirms TVNZ Ondemand 'collaboration'.
James Heffield | Monday, November 30 2009Sony Computer Entertainment has confirmed it is working with TVNZ to provide Ondemand online content on the PlayStation 3.
The move will allow PS3 owners to watch TVNZ programs on their TVs instead of on their computers.
In a statement emailed to PC World today, Sony said it was working with TVNZ “to enable a TVNZ Ondemand interface optimised for the PS3”.
“SCENZ and TVNZ will look forward to sharing more information in the New Year regarding the collaboration,” the statement said.
New Zealand media had been speculating about the deal after the TVNZ Ondemand logo temporarily appeared on the console’s Xross Media Bar during a rollout of the 3.10 firmware upgrade. The logo was removed soon afterwards.
TVNZ spokesperson Andi Brotherston told The Dominion Post newspaper this morning that an “exciting partnership” with Sony would be announced early next year, but she refused to comment further. She did not respond to PC World’s request for further comment.
