Waikato University joins iTunes U

Waikato University has become the third New Zealand tertiary education provider to join the iTunes U dedicated educational area within the iTunes store.

Otago University and Invercargill's Southern Institute of Technology already offer free educational content through iTunes U, including free educational content including course lectures, language lessons, lab demonstrations, and campus tours.

Professor Frank Scrimgeour, dean of Waikato Management School and chair of the university's ITC Strategy and Policy Committee, said the addition of Waikato University content to the store would allow it to showcase its material a global audience.

“As a progressive university, Waikato is keen to explore opportunities for international connectedness, and iTunes U is one channel with which we can share our academic excellence with an increasingly online audience.”

Waikato University has uploaded 750 podcasts for public download, including academic content, campus tours, student profiles, guest lectures and a special lecture series.
