PC players need to wait an extra two weeks for Watch Dogs 2 to reach our vaunted shores, but that’s okay—you can fill the hack-the-planet hole in your heart with Overwatch instead. Barely a week after her reveal at BlizzCon 2016, purple-sporting infiltrator Sombra has launched for everyone.
In case you missed the reveal, here’s a recap of last week’s (excellent as always) cinematic trailer:
Sombra’s technically an Offense character with a pair of Uzis, but her real value lies in Support-like crossover abilities. She can hack health packs to deny them to the other team, or hack her opponent’s abilities to prevent their use—to, for instance, force Reinhardt to drop his shield. She can also teleport and turn invisible.
Sombra’s been live on the beta servers for about a week now so no doubt the dedicated have already put in some time with her, but expect to see quite a bit of her in the next few weeks as others try to get a handle on hacking and its place in the overall competitive scene.
Also going live in today’s 1.5 update: The new Arcade mode, a more experimental version of Overwatch with game types like 1-on-1, 3-on-3, or “no hero switching.” And to top it off, the new Ecopoint: Antarctica map is packed in alongside Arcade mode.
It’s a pretty hefty update, as far as these things go, and gives you about two weeks to prepare for season three of Competitive Play (which launches on November 30). And if you’ve never played Overwatch but clicked on this article for some reason? The game is free to play from November 18 to 21. Jump in, and happy hacking.
