Telecom launches phone designed for seniors

Telecom has launched the eponymous Telecom R203, a 3G phone designed specifically for senior citizens.
The phone will be useful for those with medical problems, as it has a red switch at the back of the phone that can be flicked to send text messages to four people, make a call, and set off an alarm all at once.
It also has large buttons, adjustable font sizes and a loud speaker.
Telecom does not expect the phone to be just useful for seniors, however.
"We also expect it to be snapped up by parents who might be looking for something that the kids can throw in their schoolbags, or for anyone with family and friends who are interested in technology but like to keep life simple," said Telecom chief marketing officer Jason Paris.
The phone retails for $129 and is available in Telecom stores today, the company said.
